PALO, LEYTE — Technology Consulting Partner Gilbert Trinchera has been recognized as the Outstanding Eastern Visayan for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Outstanding Eastern Visayans Awards (OEVA) 2026, celebrating his professional excellence, leadership, and commitment to creating opportunities through entrepreneurship, innovation, and service.
The awards ceremony was held on 31 July 2026 at The Tropics at MacArthur Park in Palo, Leyte, and was organized by the Department of Tourism Region VIII as part of the inaugural OEVA – Voices of Excellence. The awards recognize individuals whose leadership, achievements, and service continue to contribute to the identity, progress, and future of Eastern Visayas.
As one of the pioneer awardees of OEVA, Trinchera described the recognition as a deeply meaningful milestone—not only as an acknowledgment of his professional journey, but as a tribute to the people and communities that helped shape it.
“This trophy is a reflection of everyone who believed in the power of entrepreneurship and innovation to create opportunities, transform lives, and open doors for the Waray people—here at home and across the world,” Trinchera said.
For Trinchera, the award is rooted in a lifelong journey of learning, leadership, and service. He expressed gratitude to his family, mentors, teachers, colleagues, friends, and the many people who offered guidance, trust, and opportunities along the way.
He paid particular tribute to his late parents, his hometown of La Paz, Leyte, and the institutions and communities that played an important role in his development.
He also acknowledged the KPMG family, including the Executive Committee, MHG, JSM, and the Technology Consulting team, for providing opportunities to lead, inspire, grow, and discover his passion for making an impact through his profession.
Trinchera likewise credited SPSPS for instilling values and providing the foundation that helped prepare him for the challenges of the business world.
“This honor belongs to everyone who believed in me before I believed in myself—to Tatay and Nanay in heaven, family, mentors, teachers, colleagues, friends, and every person who opened a door, offered guidance, extended trust, or simply reminded me to keep going,” he said.
The recognition also carries a strong commitment to paying the award forward. Trinchera shared that the cash prize associated with the award will be donated to his chosen charity, supporting children and helping create opportunities for the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovators.
For Trinchera, this gesture reflects the broader purpose behind his work: creating opportunities for others and helping communities realize their potential.
“Perhaps the most meaningful part of this journey is knowing that the cash prize will be donated to my chosen charity—a small way of paying this blessing forward and helping create brighter futures for children who need it most… our future entrepreneurs and innovators.”
