Calbayog City, Samar — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced the ongoing replacement of the Tangao Bridge located in Barangay San Joaquin, Calbayog City, prompting immediate traffic restrictions to ensure public safety during construction.
According to the DPWH, traffic along the affected section is now limited to one lane only, and a 10-ton load limit has been strictly imposed effective immediately. The restriction is part of safety measures while major structural works are underway on the bridge.
Motorists operating heavy-loaded vehicles exceeding the 10-ton limit are advised not to pass through Tangao Bridge. Instead, DPWH has designated an alternate route via the Catarman–Calbayog Road through the municipality of Lope de Vega to accommodate heavy vehicles and minimize traffic congestion in the area.
Light vehicles are allowed to pass but are urged to exercise caution, follow traffic signs, and obey on-site traffic personnel to avoid accidents and delays.
The DPWH appealed for the public’s understanding and cooperation, emphasizing that the bridge replacement project is necessary to ensure long-term safety and improve traffic flow in Calbayog City. Motorists are also encouraged to plan their trips ahead of time and expect possible delays while construction is ongoing.
Further updates will be released as the project progresses. End #evchub8 #evcommunities8 #leyteinitiatives #samarislandinitiatives
