China donates P89.8 Million typhoon disaster relief assistance to Philippines

President Rodrigo Duterte upon receiving a total of P89.8 million of aid from China intended for the victims of typhoon said that the financial assistance has no strings attached.

“This will go a long way to rehabilitate and return our people, our countrymen to their normal life,” Duterte said after breaking down the total of the typhoon aid from China.

The Chinese government has committed 5 million RMB or P35 million plus an additional of P50-million aid for the farmers and fishermen in typhoon-affected regions.

Meanwhile, an additional $100,000 of humanitarian aid will be provided by the Red Cross Society of China to the Philippines. This brings the total to P89.8 million of aid from the China, which Duterte received at MalacaƱang on Monday.

“These are the amount that the Chinese government has given us by way of help. By the way, no strings attached. It’s completely out of benevolence,” Duterte stressed.

For his part, Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua said that it was also China’s task to help to those affected by disasters.

“It is our duty and responsibility to provide assistance to the victims of typhoon,” he said.
