Villaba, Leyte – In a heartfelt tribute to unity, remembrance, and reconciliation, the Municipality of Villaba will host “Peace Memorial Day – A Celebration of Friendship and Peace” on October 21, 2025, starting at 7:00 AM at the View Deck, Brgy. Bugabuga.
This commemorative event will honor the enduring values of peace and friendship, rooted in the town’s historical significance during World War II. The program features a solemn and meaningful lineup of activities, including:
- Blessing of Historical Markers and Memorabilia
- Holy Mass
- Wreath-Laying and Candle-Lighting Ceremony
- Unveiling of the Mt. Bugabuga Historical Landmark Marker
- History Forum, and
- Other peace-centered cultural and educational activities.
The unveiling of the Mt. Bugabuga Historical Landmark Marker serves as a tribute to the bravery, sacrifices, and resilience of those who fought for freedom, while also highlighting the importance of historical preservation for future generations.
Local officials, historians, veterans’ families, educators, students, and community members are expected to gather in unity to reflect on the past and commit to a future anchored in peace and cooperation.
