Calbayog City, Samar – October 26, 2025 — The skies over Eastern Visayas opened to new opportunities as the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) officially welcomed Philippine Airlines’ (PAL) inaugural Cebu–Calbayog flight on Sunday morning.

The historic flight from Mactan-Cebu International Airport landed at Calbayog Airport at 8:42 a.m. and departed back to Cebu at 9:20 a.m., marking the beginning of a new chapter in regional air connectivity. The route will operate four times weekly — every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday — giving travelers more flexible and convenient options to explore both cities.

This new route is part of the government’s continuing push to expand domestic air travel and boost regional development, in line with the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez.

CAAP Director General Retired Lt. Gen. Raul Del Rosario underscored the broader impact of improved air routes on communities and local economies.

“By strengthening air links, we make it easier for people to travel for business, leisure, and family visits, while boosting tourism and local development,” he said.

The Cebu–Calbayog service is seen as a major boost for tourism, trade, and mobility in the region. It reflects CAAP’s strong support for airline expansion and its mission to make air travel more accessible to Filipinos across the archipelago.

With this milestone, CAAP and PAL continue to connect more destinations, empower local economies, and bring communities closer together — one flight at a time. ✈️
