Palo, Leyte, Philippines — February 27, 2026 — The Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Leyte Council proudly celebrates its 80th Charter Day Anniversary, marking eight remarkable decades of shaping young leaders and upholding a strong tradition of service, discipline, and brotherhood.
Founded in 1946, the Leyte Council has stood as a beacon of character formation and community engagement in the region. For generations, it has empowered young people with the values of integrity, patriotism, and preparedness—guiding them to become responsible citizens and servant-leaders in their communities.
Guided by this year’s theme, “80 Years of Scouting: Rooted in Service, Moving into the Future,” the celebration pays tribute to the council’s rich history while recognizing the achievements of today’s Scouts and volunteers. The milestone event highlights the enduring impact of Scouting programs that promote leadership development, environmental stewardship, disaster preparedness, and civic responsibility.
Commemorative activities include mass, anniversary program, messages from government and BSP officials, tribute and recognition of distinguished Scouts and leaders, community outreach initiatives, and fellowship gatherings that strengthen the bonds among members past and present. Alumni, partner institutions, and local stakeholders join in honoring the council’s legacy and reaffirming their shared commitment to the Scouting movement.

As the Leyte Council steps into its ninth decade, it remains steadfast in its mission—to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the timeless ideals of the Scout Oath and Law.
Eighty years strong, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Leyte Council continues to stand rooted in service and moving boldly into the future. END #leyteinitiatives #evchub8 #evcommunities8
